DURC Committee Meeting 01/09/07 

Present: Julia Capper, Iain Gordon, Mike Cunningham, Andrew Bowman, Eilidh McNab. 

Apologies: Lori McArthur, Andrew Galbraith, Andrew Gardner, Jon Bowyer. 

1. President’s report 

1.1Julia is away with outblocks until late October and apologises for the inconvenience this causes the committee and club members 

1.2 Membership price

Prices to stay at £25, we can then make trip prices cheaper.  Accounts need finalised before we can work out trip prices, but these will be finalised prior to freshers week. 

1.3 Printing

Andrew Gardner has done meets card, and the rest of the important stuff is ready to go to the printers. 

1.4 Sponsor

Andrew Gardner has sent emails to Craigdon and Tiso, Julia will send out a further email to these companies. 

1.5 Fresher’s fair

The afternoon of Friday 14th September.  Julia cannot be there until later on as she has an exam.  Could everyone who is free please go along and help out. 

1.6 Captain’s induction

Lori McArthur to go in place of Julia Capper who is unable to attend due to course committments. 

1.7 Slideshow

Mike Cunningham has details finalised: Wednesday 19th September in the Tower Extension Lecture Theatre.  The room is booked from 6-9.30pm, the actual show will start at 7.30pm. 

1.8 Things to do before Friday 7th September.

Get all printing done (constitution, safety policy, membership forms, possibly some information about the club).  Julia Capper will put all these onto a CD, Andy Bowman to get it printed at the University print shop. 

1.9 Fresher’s packs.

Printed list of huts on A4 paper, along with a short description of each hut.  Information on social events and a kit list also to be put in the packs, along with constitutions, safety policies and the usual leaflets.

3. Meets Secretary Report 

3.1 Everything is booked, with all deposits paid. 

3.2 Meets card is complete. 

3.3 Buses

Discussions with Enterprise ongoing, but buses booked for first two trips of the year. 

4. Social report 

4.1 Sponsor pub

Braes is confirmed as our sponsor pub. 

In return we will go there every Wednesday evening, and use the pub for social occasions where possible.  The Braes logo will also appear on club kit during this academic year. 

4.2 Events still to organise

Ceilidh for late October early November period.  This will probably be held in the Friary, but this could not be pre-booked until September, Andy Bowman will phone them again this week.  Budget may be an issue for this event; wait until the accounts are finalised until we decide how much to spend on this. 

5. Other things to sort out 

5.1 Routes for the Fresher’s meet: will be sorted nearer the time as unsure who will be there (Meets Sec. currently crippled, as is Social Sec.…) 

5.2 Meets cards must be printed this week, as Fresher’s packs must be made up a.s.a.p. 

6. Any other matters 

6.1 Committee members to send their bios and pictures to Jon Bowyer to put up on the club site.

6.2 MCofS and Glenmore Lodge are sending out leaflets for the Fresher’s packs. 

6.3 Once Fresher’s fair and Slideshow are over, must sort out a database (excel file) of all members to send to MCofS for insurance a.s.a.p. (by mid October).
