President:
1.1 Attendance on meets;
‘Committee need to be on meets; only 3 members were on both Freshers meets.
The committee has a role to go on trips; members old and new have remarked upon this issue.’
Committee discussion:
1.2 Notice board:
The notice board has not been changed enough. It was decided that members of the committee would put up relevant information according to their role, thus it doesn’t become one persons sole responsibility.
1.3 Other business:
Doing very well in terms with membership; 130 members as of 20/10/05
Freshers’ meets went very well. The use of a coach proved to be successful when organising large numbers with routes on the fresher day meet.
The songbook will be ready for Christmas. The committee would like to ask the permission of Dr Paterson and Grumpy to work with the format devised for the 2003 edition. Suggestions from the club for additions/alterations. Hold a separate meeting for the song book.
Vice President:
2.1Navigation Lecture:
Held on the 28th September, it was a great success; attended by 30 members, the lecture used a combination of practical and traditional styles of teaching navigation which proved to be a very effective method.
2.2 First Aid lecture:
Due to climbing; the first aid lecture was postponed to Monday 31st October.
2.3 Gear Night (Perth):
Members went to gear store in Perth (13th October); suggested a repeat visit in semester two as the store has a better range of gear than those in Dundee.
2.4 Club Bothy:
Now getting too cold to make a maintenance trip; suggested date to coincide with Linn of Dee day trip (19th March 2006). This allows plenty of time to make arrangements.
2.5 Roger wild course (Safety course):
Need to decide on who goes. Will be held at Glenmorelodge and will deal with good mountain practice.
2.6 Conville course.
The organisers will be contacted to find out if spaces have been reserved and request will be made for application forms.
Meets Secretary:
3.1 Minibuses
Enterprise are threatening to take the account away, because they are loosing money with the present arrangements.
Contingence considerations: University buses may not be firmly allocated to DURC (Competitive sports events take priority). These buses also require unsuitable key pick-up time. Other firms in town will be approached members. Meets Sec. has contacts through St. Andrews University club, will approach them.
3.2 GSG and Naismith hut
Club will pay only for beds that are used at GSG hut; hut sleeps 14.
3.3 Keys
Meets sec. asks who can pick the post to get keys; Katherine volunteers.
