Minuets from last meeting

Still waiting for reason for VP resignation to be discussed between VP and President.

 

1.President’s report

1.1       Attended Safety and Good Practice seminars at Glen More lodge. Strongly suggest this is well attended in following years will be very beneficial.

1.2              Eight people have expressed an interest in attending MCoS Winter Skills weekend in March. Priority will be given to newer members.

1.3              Deadline for applications to Convil was missed, anyone wanting to attend will be placed on a reserve list.

1.4              Winter essentials DVD purchased at Safety and Good Practice seminar to be shown before winter experience Mhairi to book a room.

1.5              Committee agreed to advertise VP position preferably before Christmas so a decision could be made soon in the new year.

1.6              SU want to do a profile on the club as it is one of the three largest in the UK. This aims to make let the rest of the university and Dundee aware of the success of the club and the SU. There will be an event at the end of the year. A collaboration with AVW was suggested and Rick Taylor will be presenting about his Everest experience.

1.7              Drivers packs have been prepared and agreed to be on all buses and handed to any driver that requires one at sign up on a Wednesday. Insurance documents inside should be with all drivers whist driving mini buses.

 

2. Treasurer’s Report

2.1              Accounts are healthy

2.2              SU would like all membership details and a record of membership fees that have been paid

2.3              Accident claim for Achnasheen paid £267.98

2.4              Mini bus grant is nearly finished due to unexpected increases in mini bus costs.

 

3. Meets Secretary’s Report:

3.1              Bring constitution up to date. Any changes have to be approved by at least two thirds of the club. All committee members to have a look and put forward suggestions.

3.2              It was suggested that guiodes could be hired for winter experience, although it was felt this would be too expencive and not benefit anough members of the club. Members should be made aware that professional guides are available for skills training and the committee can help to organise this if wanted.

3.3              Sign up for Christmas meet to be at 9pm in Braes due to Christmas dinner earlier that evening. Cost agreed at £15 for both nights and £10 for one night.

3.4              Mhairi will collect 1 sack of potatoes, 2 large turkeys, quorn for vegetarians, roasting bags, plain flour and oil.

 

4. Social Secretary’s Report

4.1              A huge thank you to all those that came and helped at a successful DMFF. Homemade cakes were the best sellers and crisps not selling at all well.  There will be no bar at the festival nest year so profits should increase again. Left over food that will remain within its sellby date will be stored by the president till next year (tea coffee sugar). Lollies will be taken to the xmas meet. Other snacks will be sold at a reduced rate at any future lectures held by the club and any remaining will be brought to the annual dinner.

4.2              Burns night will be held in the Queens hotel on the 1st of February. The Orwell Ceilidh band is booked for £360. Price of the meal is still under negotiation. Bob has been asked to address the haggis and Geoff to pipe it in.

 

5. Calendar

Jon Bowyer has suggested making a calendar made from DURC pictures taken from each month. Meets will be included on the calendar.

 

6. Song Book

6.1              This has been editied by Alexei with help from Jon Bowyer and the committee.

6.2              Dave has asked permission from Andy Pat.

6.3              Dave to write introduction and prepare photos for front cover.

6.4              Printing quotes for 40 books from Abertay £86, Daves contact £100.

 

7. Freshers Reps

Julia Capper, Jon Bowyer and Andrew Gardener to be asked if they would like the position, committee then to vote.
